Panaracer's GravelKing tyre range gets a top-down redesign
Panaracer's GravelKing has been around for 10 years already and, in celebration of that momentous milestone, the brand has given the tyre range a complete overhaul. For 2024, the GravelKing collection of tyres introduces a whole new look, fresh technologies and a new tread pattern. Here are all of the details.

Panaracer has given its tyre range a considerable update as it brings in a host of new carcass and rubber compound technologies, not to mention an all-new tyre tread. These casings are now available for all of the brand's existing tread patterns as well as its new X1.
In terms of rubber compounds, there are three in the range, standard GravelKing, GravelKing+ and GravelKing R with the first being intended as an all-rounder, the second boosting protection and the third for lightweight and suppleness.
The standard GravelKing benefits from Panaracer's new ZSG (Zero Slip Grip) Gravel rubber compound that's specific to gravel. However, where it gets interesting is that the brand claims that it's resistant to changes in weather and temperature, so it should stay sticky whatever the conditions while offering good grip on gravel and Tarmac.
Second to that, the tyre gets the new TuffTex carcass which is built up of a high thread count that's paired with bead-to-bead puncture protection.
There's BeadLock technology, too, which has been built to play nicely with a wider range of rims including hookless and clincher rims. BeadLock is found on the new GravelKing+ and GravelKing R.
The GravelKing+ is the strongest tyre in the range and offers support against all types of punctures, claims Panaracer. It gets the ZSG Gravel rubber and BeadLock tech but it gets an enhanced version of TuffTex+. This includes a dual bead-to-bead layer of the TuffTex material that's intended to boost protection even further.
The GravelKing R receives TuffTex R which is said to be the brand's lightest and most supple casing.
The new GravelKing X1 boasts the first new tread design from Panaracer in four years. It's crafted with an almost continuous centre tread to achieve a good rolling speed, placing it ahead of the GravelKing SS and SK in lab testing. The X1's shoulder knobs are taller and more aggressive than the centre tread for solid cornering grip.
Panaracer says that the GravelKing X1 is designed for control in diverse terrains as well as loose and rocky landscapes.
