Reynolds releases new TR and G series gravel-specific wheels
Reynolds, the wheelmaker known for producing sophisticated, reliable and extremely performance-oriented wheels has introduced a collection of two new options which will go head-to-head against the best gravel wheels on the market.

Reynolds has not tried to make one magical gravel wheelset that would excel in all kinds of conditions, but instead, it has recognised the versatility of “gravel” and created two separate wheelsets; the ATR and G series.
Both have the same performance and reliable construction elements, but it’s really their “specific versatility”, as Reynolds calls it, that is claimed to make them stand out among the competition. Let’s have a closer look at what each set is offering.
Reynolds ATR series
ATR stands for “all-terrain road” and is aimed at riders who prefer to experience their adventure at speed, making it a good solution for riders looking for a competitive advantage - no matter the surface.
These hoops bring the road performance to off-road with 40mm deep rims that have been aerodynamically optimised to reduce drag while maintaining stability by way of a meticulously studied shapes that considers all wind angles. The wider, snub-nosed aero design has taken into consideration the larger off-road tyres. The hooked, tubeless-ready, 23mm internal channel (32mm external) rims are perfectly compatible with both road and gravel tires from 28mm to 45mm. The rims are built using a CR3 layup process making for extremely lightweight but durable construction - which features a lifetime guarantee.
Reynolds says that the on- and off-road efficiency in the ATR series comes not only in the form of aero design and lightweight construction but also by including hubs that, throughout the range, incorporate sophisticated technologies to reduce rolling resistance and increase power transfer into forward movement.
Reynolds G Series
Whereas the ATR series can be used on all roads, Reynolds has developed the G series with pure efficiency and durability in mind.
The G-series has a more modest, 26mm profile and a sophisticated carbon layup that keeps weight to a minimum. Reynolds has brought the technology from its world-class downhill and enduro mountain bike wheels to this wheelset that it claims is “efficient, bombproof and lightweight.
The G-series hoops are hookless and tubeless by default and feature a 25mm internal width, which means you can pair them with 38mm to 52mm wide rubber. By utilising an asymmetric design, which allows for a more equal spoke tension and better power transfer these wheels Reynolds says these wheels can open up a whole new world of adventure performance possibilities - and improve the ride quality a lot.
Specifications
Let’s have a look at some of the more specific numbers and technologies Reynolds has implemented in these wheelsets. Reynolds says there is something for every budget and emphasises that every product in the collection comes with a lifetime rim guarantee.
In both the ATR and G series, there are three spec options and every one of these is offered in either 700c or 650b size.
The highest specced wheels are the Blacklabel, representing “the absolute top in terms of performance, weight and efficiency”, and have Industry Nine hubs laced onto the rims with Sapim CX-Ray spokes in both series.
Going a notch down, the G-series Blacklabel expert and ATRx both incorporate Reynolds' own hubs. The G-series has got the all-new SBX ROAD, three-pawl, 45-tooth, eight-degree engagement while the ATRx receives the brand's All Road hub with 10-degree engagement and a four-pawl freehub.
The last version of the ATR and G-Series incorporate a TR3 hub and the all-new SRX hub respectively.
In terms of weight, the ATR series comes in at 1,473g, 1,620g and 1,685g across the 700c range.
The G-series drops these weights to 1,357g, 1,416g and 1545g respectively. Prices start at £1,350 for the G series and range up to £2,200 for the Blacklabel Pro model.
