Kenda Pinner tyre
Kenda has just launched a new tyre, its called the Pinner and was developed with World Cup downhill racer Aaron Gwin. Not just for downhill riding though, the brand says it has better rolling resistance than their Hellcat tyres, making the Pinner good choice for gravity riders and trail riders alike. Kenda says the tyre, designed with gravity riding in mind has excellent predictability and a consistent contact patch when cornering, meaning they have hoped to prevent any sudden washouts or unwanted slides - more info can be found here, in our news piece.
New Brand-X Ascend 170mm dropper seatpost
Chain Reactions Cycles brand, Brand X has just launched a new Ascend 200mm dropper post, plus they have shortened the overall lengths of all droppers across the range, making them more suitable for bikes with shorter insertion depths. More details about the update can be found here. We've got a new version of the 170mm dropper post in on test which gets additional DU bushing in the mid cap, and internal brass keys upgraded to smaller, lighter pins further improving performance and reliability, plus a shorter collar height.
Alpina Twist Five CM+ glasses
Alpina say these glasses are in their fifth generation and have been a popular sport glasses since 2005. They are sunglasses only, so no interchangeable lenses but they do have 100% UV protection, anti-fog coating, hydrophobic lenses and you can adjust the angle of arms too, plus they only cost £65.
New 2021 Fox 36's, Float DPX2 and Transfer dropper post
Our Jon is the lucky boy this week with a huge drop of suspension components for Fox. if you haven't seen it already he's massively geeked out on the 36's in this video:
Everything else you need to know about the Fox 36 and the new 38 fork is here in this news article.
Jon also has a 2021 Fox Float DPX2 and Transfer dropper post to boot. The shock gets a new compression base valve design for 2021 which they say should make it more supple off the top and give more support in the midstroke. Fox says they wanted the shock to be more supportive and have a lively feel but still feel 'glued to the ground' at high speeds.
The dropper post gets a new clamping system so the bolts don't protrude towards the underside of the saddle, plus there's now a threaded collar. This can be loosened so you can get under the wiper seal and give it a bit of a clean and lube to keep the post running smoothly.
- 2021 Fox 36 - £1,160
- 2021 Fox Float DPX2 shock - £740
- 2021 Fox Transfer post - £370
Madison Flux jersey and shorts
Madison have a new range of kit out for the 2020 season and we've got some gear in from the Flux range which caters for the trail and enduro rider. The kit all looks to be bang up to date and it well worth a look at the range in its entirety. These two pieces are from the women's range, The Flus Enduro jersey is a light long-sleeved option with a dropped hem and a cool paint fade. The matching Flux shorts look a lot more shapely than the previous iteration of the kit with laser cut cooling holes, stretch material and a DWR coating too. As ever, they both look feature-heavy at a reasonable price.
