To protect frames from any potential scratches, scuffs and stone chips, Muc-Off has developed a new mountain bike-specific frame protection series it claims is easy to apply and remove - even on the most obscure bike geometries.

Because the series is modular in design, Muc-Off says it can provide protection for all key areas of the frame, including rear stays, cranks, and forks. There are kits available in combined and individual sets, in mountain and e-mountain bike size options. 

“We’ve seen first-hand the punishment bikes take out on the trails, so we knew we had to develop a super-strong, super-flexible material that performed better than anything else out there. In true Muc-Off style, our Bike Protection Series is the perfect blend of form and function, so riders can be confident their pride and joys are protected. We also know what a pain frame protection application can be and that it can put some people off, so having a super-easy application method was key from the outset of development.” Alex Trimnell, CEO at Muc-Off said.

In typical Muc-Off style, there are many different snazzy looks to choose from. The Bike Protection Series is offered in six different designs, including, ‘Bolt’, ‘Camo’, ‘Day of the Shred’, and ‘Punk’ which matches Muc-Off’s Technical apparel and Ride Guard ranges. For those looking for sleek and nearly invisible protection, there is a Clear Gloss and Clear Matt option.

The graphical Protection Kits are made of weatherproof and durable Cube-Tec material, which was developed from the ground up by Muc-Off’s product design team in the UK. It comprises multiple tessellating 45-degree-angled cubes, which Muc-Off claims provide more strength and more flexibility than the standard flat layered materials currently available.

The Cube-Tec material sits on top of the graphical and 3M adhesive weatherproof layers below, which Muc-Off says makes them easy to install, as well as strong enough to shield the frame from impact.

The Clear Gloss and Clear Matt variants use TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) film technology, which allows for a smooth and stealthy finish, whilst being equally as strong and durable as the graphical counterparts. The clear frame protection kits are stain-resistant, non-yellowing, and self-healing which means riders can apply warm water to any light scratches and scuffs, and watch them disappear as the material repairs itself. 

Muc-Off says the installation is a simple task and offers its own Squeegee tool that helps to smooth out any bubbles. And upon removal, Muc-Off says there will be no residue left behind. 

The full Muc-Off Bike Protection Series is available now in six finishes for both MTB and e-MTB size options and prices are as follows.

Frame Protection Kit (45-pieces) covers the frame, top tube, downtube, chainstays and cable rub areas and costs £64.99. Chain Stay Protection Kit (20-piece) covers chainstays and rear stays and costs £29.99. Eight-piece Fork Protection Kit sets you back £29.99 and the two-piece Crank Protection Kit £14.99.
