Rugged riding in the Welsh Valleys, with big climbs rewarded by big descents

Starting out from the Afan Forest Visitor Centre, Y Wal (The Wall in Welsh) heads out on the north side of the valley along the river and climbs up to take in some stunning views as well as superb singletrack riding.

There's a fair bit of exposure on some of the descents - you definitely don't want to veer off track - but all this adds a slightly Alpine air to the proceedings. You can also drop in at Afan Bike Park at Bryn Bettws just before the last descent and have a play about on the jumps there as well as a drink or snack in the cafe.
