Rugged riding in the Welsh Valleys, with big climbs rewarded by big descents

The red-graded Blade trail takes you further out into the forest, rewarding the tough, often technical climbing with views over the Brecon Beacons and cracking technical singletrack decents.

It starts from the Glyncorrwg centre and it's also possible to add in the old Skyline trail for another 20km of distance and 370m of climbing on top of the 23km and 570m climbing of this trail.

You'll need to be properly prepared if you fancy doing that, as it takes you pretty far from civilisation and you'll be exposed to the worse the weather can throw at you - as well as it being fairly arduous.

Jon was previously the editor here at off.road.cc. Whether it's big days out on the gravel bike or hurtling down technical singletracks, if it's got two wheels and can be ridden on dirt, then he's into it. He's previously been technical editor at BikeRadar.com, editor at What Mountain Bike Magazine and also web editor at Singletrackworld.co.uk. Yes, he's been around the houses.
