Afan Bike Park
Rugged riding in the Welsh Valleys, with big climbs rewarded by big descents

Most easily accessed from Bryn Bettws Visitor Centre at the top of the hill, Afan Bike Park offers ten runs of varying styles to keep everyone from those wanting to try their technical climbing skills to big air merchants.

While the runs are all relatively short, it's a good place to start from if you're going to ride Y Wal as the final descent of that trail is easily accessed from the park and you can then ride into the other trails that start Afan Forest Visitor Centre.

The skills runs are good places to hone your jumps and balance, while the other runs will allow you to put those basic skills into practice before hitting the jump lines if you're confident.

The ten runs are:

  • Dolen XC Loop
  • Technical Climb
  • Berm Run
  • Proline
  • Skills Run 1
  • Skills Run 2
  • Skills Run 3
  • Expert Jump Line
  • Intermediate Jump Line
  • Log Skinny Run

There are also some off-piste runs that have been used in various enduro races over the years in the vicinity, so having a bit of an explore can often pay off. Be aware these are steep, very technical and can be extremely hard in the wet, meaning they're best left to experienced and confident riders.
