Scott reveals all-new Ransom enduro bike
Following the trend set by Scott’s shorter-travel dual-suspension mountain bikes, like Spark and Genius, the 2024 Ransom features a hidden shock. Front and rear suspension travel remains unchanged at 170mm, but the frame is of a completely new design.

Unlike the Spark and Genius, where the hidden shock is positioned inside the lower seat tube section, Ransom’s shock sits more horizontally, residing in an oversized frame section from the bottom bracket to the lower downtube.
The Ransom’s new hidden shock design drives a six-bar linkage, allowing for exact suspension tuning, which is exactly what committed enduro riders would require. Engineers at Scott have designed the new Ransom to be compatible with several shock options from the most recognised brands in mountain bike suspension.
Whether riders desire the feel of an air or coil shock, the new Ransom accommodates both. Fox’s Float X, X2, DHX, and DHX2 work are options, as are RockShox’s SuperDeluxe Air, Marzocchi’s Bomber air and coil shocks, and the Öhlins TTX22 coil and TTX2 air.
Why the hidden shock design? Safely encased in the frame, Ransom’s shock is shielded from environmental contamination like dust and mud, eliminating seal and stanchion wear. The stanchion is also protected from dents and scratches in a crash in rocky terrain.
Another benefit of the hidden shock design, with its lateral orientation, is the very generous dropper post clearance. Even on the size medium Ransom, riders can run a 180mm dropper post without issue.
To ensure ease of adjustability, when riders need to make compression or rebound adjustments, the Ransom frame has a shock hatch, which releases with one push-button.

True to its enduro riding target riding audience, the Ransom has a slack 63.8-degree head angle. The Ransom can also be slackened down to 63.2 degrees, with an adjustment chip, to run a smaller diameter 27.5-inch rear wheel for riders who want faster acceleration out of switchback corners.
Another frame cavity and access feature is the Syncros Matchbox kit. Scott’s interpretation of in-frame utility storage can house a spare tube, chain tool, trusty multi-tool and tyre levers.

Scott is marketing the new Ransom in five derivatives, including a women-specific Contessa version. The premium builds feature Scott’s Trac-Loc suspension adjustment system. It allows riders to select 130mm of rear suspension travel, when required, for climbing steep sections of trail, or for better acceleration out of berms and over rollers on smooth flow trails.
Weight ranges for the new Ransom vary from 15.2kg for the 900 RC to 16.7kg for the 930.
