2021 is the year in which Yeti Cycles marks its 35th anniversary. To celebrate, the brand has launched a special edition ARC with some super trick colour matched kit. There are only 100 of these bikes hitting the market, so you have to get in there quick if you fancy owning a potential piece of history.

Versatility is the name of the game with the Schwalbe Magic Mary. It’s a top performer for aggressive riding in almost all conditions, but it can feel a little nervous at the extremes of wet or dry.

The Leatt DBX 4.0 V20.1 is close to being a full-on DH spec helmet, but it’s airy and light enough for enduro/heavy trail use. It’s seriously comfortable too, though the peak doesn't adjust to fit raised goggles – and some may find it a little claustrophobic.

The 24 IN 1 Multi Tool is the biggest multi tool that Merida offers. It’s got enough kit to get you out of most trailside conundrums but it’s fiddly to use, and it can be tough to get enough leverage with.

For 2020 the ME5 and ME7 trail shoes from Shimano see a refresh. At the forefront of the brands thinking is on bike performance mixed with off-bike comfort and grip.

The Chiru MIPS from Lazer is a budget-friendly trail lid that brings the rotational impact protection of MIPS down to an accessible price. It’s as impressively comfortable as it is breezy, but its looks might not be to everyone’s taste.
