Tailfin reveals new Cage Pack System and TPU Cargo Straps
The new Cage Pack range is designed to maximise performance and by offering a repeatable and easy mounting and rapid removal, address all the issues current cages and dry bags tend to suffer.
- Stash even more on your bike with Tailfin's Mini Cage
- Tailfin launches its new Suspension Fork Mount system for bikepacking
- Tailfin increases versatility with modularly designed Cargo Cage
The Cage Packs complete the Tailfin's Cage System and are designed to harmoniously work with TPU Cargo Straps to create the best storage system for use with any cargo cages. The packs come in three volumes: 1.7, three and five litres, and boast a fully waterproof, Hypalon/Ripstop Nylon construction.
Tailfin intends the smallest 1.7 litre Cage Packs to fit inside the frame triangle and under the down tube. The three-litre bags are perfect for smaller loads on forks, under the downtube (on MTBs), and on rear racks, whereas the larger, five-litre bag will be suitable for bulkier loads. The bags can take up to 1.5kg of cargo per riv nut.
Tailfin is known for its hardware and this pack range is no exception. The Speed Hook system eliminates the faff, and allows the user to semi-set up the straps and then drop the bag in.
Unlike traditional dry bags, the Tailfin Cage Packs are shaped with flat side panels to minimise interference with the rider when used inside the frame or under the down tube.
Tailfin has also incorporated strap guide slots located at the sides of the packs to provide an additional means of securing the pack to the cargo cage if you prefer a more permanent attachment. These slots also help tidy any loose strap ends to create a neater pack.
The retail prices for the bags without straps start at £30 (1.7L), and range to £55 (5L) with straps.
TPU Cargo Straps
As part of the new launch, Tailfin has also released TPU Cargo Straps. The new strap pays
homage to the ever-popular and incredibly effective ski strap system but boosts the design, building it specifically to deal with the demands of bikepacking. The strap takes advantage of Tailfin’s Load Lock Buckle and is fully made of non-scratching materials.
Tuned TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) strap material offers the perfect blend of stretch, strength and durability. All parts are highly abrasion and tear-resistant and available in 40, 50 and 65cm lengths.
Retail prices (per strap): £7.50 (40cm), £8 (50cm), £8.5 (65cm) and £10 per pair when bought with Cage Pack.
