Red Bull reveals details on Hardline Tasmania
Fresh for 2024, Red Bull Hardline is shaking up its format a little by introducing a second leg of the toughest downhill mountain biking event in the world. With the first event of the small series being held in Tasmania just next week, Red Bull has divulged some extra details on what to expect.
- off-road Opinion - E-bikes aren't a menace, it's all about trail etiquette
- How to ride berms - everything you need to know
- How 26" wheels are still turning out the fun
On the 23 and 24 February, Red Bull Hardline Australia will take place within the rugged terrain of the Maydena Bike Park in Tasmania. A few months ahead of the main event in the Dyfi Valley on the 1 and 2 June, 30 riders from around the world will take on one of the toughest tracks in the world that has been built by 15 predominantly Tasmanian builders.
The Tasmanian course will test the world's top riders over a 2.3km track. The biggest jump on the track measures in at a crazy 23 metres and the largest vertical drop is more than 10 metres in height. While the course's geology changes three times throughout the track, it's expected that at race pace, it'll take riders just three and a half minutes to complete. Oh, and a fun fact, Eucalyptus Regnans, the world's tallest flowering plant grows in the area.
Along with the course details, the organisers have announced new additions to the rider list. Now attending the event are Frenchmen Edgar Briloe, Vincent Tupin, and Thibault Laly. Brit, Jim Monro will join the three, and UK-born Dennis Luffman will take a wild card entry. Unfortunately, Gee Atherton won't be attending and will continue his road to recovery.
Red Bull Hardline can be watched on Red Bull TV at 7am UK time.
