The new features allow users to for example easily design a three-hour MTB ride that starts from their holiday cottage and includes as much elevation as they like, Komoot said. The added Tour filters allow choosing of the preferred ride surface type between paved or off-road, as well as distance and elevation. The Discover feature will then come up with recommended routes.
The over 5.5 million Tour recommendations will show up on an updated Komoot map interface which showcases the routes in an interactive view. The Tour recommendations are based on the most popular routes based on the local activities and also explore the Komoot community’s route highlights.
The map interface also includes animated direction markers and coloured Tour lines that help distinguish the recommended routes from each other and makes comparison easy.
Users can find the features from the Discover feed on the Komoot website, and on the iOS and Android app via the “Find your next adventure” button, where they can choose their sport and enter a location to discover routes with that specific starting point.
