Four new WTB tyres released – including a gravel super slick
Eurobike week is always an exciting time for new products and WTB has revealed four new off-road cycling tyre options – making their global debut in Frankfurt.

Affirming the continued strength of gravel riding and adventure cycling, three of WTB’s four new tyres are targeted at drop bar off-road riders. The three new gravel bike tyres are across two of WTB’s model ranges – Vulpine and Resolute – while the mountain bike tyre is an all-new model, the Macro.
Product designers at WTB have used dual DNA rubber compounds for the three new gravel tyres, allowing for a targeted distribution of materials. The result is tyres with softer, grippier shoulder tread blocks, but a faster-rolling, more wear-resistant, centre tread. Another area of focus for the design team was enhanced puncture protection.
Vulpine goes super slick
Gravel riders know that a shallow skid depth means lower rolling resistance and more speed. And no centreline skid depth means the most possible speed. WTB’s new Vulpine S delivers the lowest possible centre-tread rolling resistance with a slick centreline strip flanked by shallow tread blocks.
It’s a tyre for riders willing to lean to find their cornering grip and confident about braking without the traction of any centreline tread. Available in 40- and 45mm casing widths, all Vulpine S tyres feature A 120tpi casing and WTB’s SG sidewall protection layer.
The lightest Vulpine S is a tanwall 700 x 40c, at only 500g, with the black casing version being 517g. The 700 x 45c tanwall is 560g, and its black casing twin weighs 580g.
Gravel and adventure riders who value the Vulpine’s efficiency in a high-volume semi-slick, with some tread on the centreline, can opt for a new 700 x 45c version, with the tanwall weighing 565g and the black casing, 570g.
Big gravel bike tyres
All-season gravel and adventure riders seeking a high-volume tyre with mountain bike-type characteristics at a low weight, can opt for a much larger version of the WTB Resolute.
Featuring widely spaced tread blocks and a large-volume casing, the Resolute 50 will find all the traction on climbs with loose shale or wet roots. Beyond the tyre design’s traction and braking properties, thanks to its shape and distribution of tread blocks, the casing volume allows riders to run the Resolute 50 at low pressure, further enhancing traction and reducing riding fatigue on those multiday adventure routes.
The WTB Resolute 50 has a bead-to-bead protection layer to reduce the risk of sidewall cut punctures. Riders can select a tanwall version (at 620g) or a conventional black casing (weighing 640g).
WTB’s all-new mountain bike tyre is the Macro, filling a gap in WTB’s tyre range regarding a large-volume, XC-racing tyre. With XC races becoming increasingly technical, more riders are using 2.4in tyres, significantly up in size from the 2.2in casings - which were standard fit, for many years in XC and XCO racing.
Inflating to a 2.4in casing width on 30mm internal-diameter rims, the Macro has a 120 TPI structure designed to roll fast, with minimal rotational mass. The tanwall version is only 709g, with a black casing Macro weighing 732g.
WTB’s new gravel tyres all retail at £65.00, with the Macro 2.4in mountain bike tyre pricing at £75.00.
