Say hello to YT's Capra Uncaged 10
With 170mm of front and rear suspension, the Capra is a dedicated enduro bike. In its latest Uncaged 10 specification, YT’s product planners have opted for a build kit to give enduro mountain biking riders confidence when attempting the most technical trails possible, on a single-crown fork mountain bike.

There’s no difference in the suspension specifications between the Capra Uncaged 10 in alloy or carbon. Both versions feature coil-sprung rear suspension, configured to tame the rowdiest rock gardens and hit the biggest drops. The Fox DHX Performance grade coil shock comes with frame size-specific spring load ratings, varying from 350lb (158kg) of spring tension on a small Capra Uncaged 10 small, to 550lb (250kg) on the XXL.
Fox’s Performance 38 170mm fork handles front-end impacts and sets the Capra Uncaged 10 frame at a 64-degree head angle when fitted with a mixed size 29/27.5in wheelset. Riders who run the latest Capra Uncaged 10 with 29-inch wheels front and rear, will be steering with a slightly steeper 64.2-degree head angle.
YT’s latest Capra Uncaged 10 rolls the same wheelset for carbon and alloy complete bikes: the Crankbrothers Synthesis Enduro, with aluminium rims.
True to its role as a hard-hitting enduro bike, the Capra Uncaged 10 rolls appropriate rubber from Maxxis. There’s a 29 x 2.5in Assegai up front, featuring the 3C MaxxGrip compound and EXO+ casing. At the rear, it’s a Minion DHR II, with the same compound, but slightly narrower at 2.4in width and with a stable Double Down Maxxis casing.
Drivetrains, brakes and cockpits are also similar between the carbon and alloy Capra Uncaged 10. You get SRAM GX 1x12 gearing, Code R brakes (with 200mm rotors front and rear), and a Renthal aluminium cockpit, with 800mm handlebars held in place by a 50mm stem. Handlebar rise is frame size dependent, though, which is a clever bit of product planning by YT. On bikes sized S-M, the 800mm Renthal handlebar has 20mm of rise, while the L-XXL bikes feature a 30mm rise handlebar.
Seatposts are also frame-size specific, featuring YT’s house-brand dropper – the cleverly named Postman. Available drop is 125mm on a size small, 150mm on a medium frame, 170mm on large and extra-large bikes, and 200mm on the XXL.
The Capra Uncaged 10 aluminium is priced at £2,999 with the carbon version at £3,499 – and it’s worth noting that complete bike weights are only 300g apart, with the alloy at 16.7kg and a carbon weighing 16.4kg.
