YT Industries launch new Capra enduro bike
Direct sales specialists YT Industries have teased their all-new 2018 Capra enduro bike with a rather curious video that involves a goat-headed man abducting riders in order to give them an enforced presentation on the new bike. Conveniently, that lets us have a peek at it too, so here's what we know so far.
- Buyer's guide to mountain bikes: everything you need to know to get the best one
- 11 tools every home bike mechanic should have in their toolbox
- Buyer's guide to waterproof mountain bike jackets
The big takeaway from the teaser is that that YT's signature full sus enduro bike will come with a 29" wheels for the very first time, in addition to a 27.5" option. Apart from that, goat-boy keeps schtum on the hard details but the bike's outline looks much more in keeping with the current Jeffsy trail bike than the old Capra, which is hardly surprising.
We can safely guess that, as with the old machine, there will be around 160-170mm of travel from a carbon fibre frame with the 29" machine likely to be a bit down on travel over it's smaller wheeled sibling. We'd bank on there being more affordable aluminium bikes in the range at some point too. It's probably going to be impressive value, regardless.
Apart from that, there's not much to go on, but we'd bank good money on the bike being slacker in the head angle and longer in the reach than before. As the video says, we'll get full details at some point on the 8th Feb, so we'll update this story then.
If you're wondering what all the goat stuff is about, that's what 'capra' means in Italian. Either way, you should watch the really rather well-polished video to see for yourself. Enjoy.
