News reports (from the BBC) say a woman was trampled by cows saving her six-year-old granddaughter from the charging herd. The woman was Lisa Wells an experienced mountaineer with her young granddaughter Bethan and two dogs on leads.
Reports are that Miss Wells was "severely injured", Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue team carried the woman to an air ambulance and she was taken to the Royal Stoke Hospital.
The herd charged at the pair and two dogs on the footpath from Capel Curig to Crimpiau in Snowdonia on Sunday. The mountain bikers, Alun Jones, 47, said he and 48-year-old brother Andy were alerted by the screams coming from the field where they saw the cows in a frenzy. Alun says "Lisa tried to get through the gate the cows hit her and kept hitting her before we could get her out.The cows were crazy, in some sort of frenzy, and then ran off and disappeared."
BBC reports say Miss Wells was "Severely injured, she was assisted by passers-by and both an ambulance and the air ambulance were tasked."
The girl was taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd in Bodelwyddan for treatment but was released a short time later.
Other news sites including North Wales Live have not been able to make contact with the owner of the farm. Some reports note a bull in the field too, it's worth remembering the unpredictability of animals in mixed groups, also being protective of young at this time of year.
Well done to those mountain bikers and get well soon to those involved!
