Foxy Carbon 2023 - Frame and suspension
As one can guess from the name, Foxy Carbon has a full carbon frame. Mondraker has made it using its Stealth Air Full Carbon technology - which allows the unique silhouette and lines of the bike. Stiffness and compliance have been placed at selected spots by layering the carbon, and Mondraker says the stiffness has been prioritised around the bottom bracket and the lower suspension link. The chainstays have also been modified and reinforced compared to previous generations.
The Foxy uses Mondraker’s patented Zero Suspension System which is comprised of two links which have been redesigned compared to previous models, meaning completely reworked kinematics.
The stroke shock has been made longer which should offer a plusher ride compared to previous models. The Foxy Carbon also utilises Mondraker’s integrated MIND telemetry technology, which in essence allows you to fine-tune your suspension settings with the help of a mobile app.
Mondraker Foxy - Geometry
Although changes have been made throughout the new Foxy Carbon, perhaps the most dramatic update is the new model's adjustable geometry. The adjustability means that riders can change the bike's geometry between “standard” or “low” by adjusting the position of the rearmost screw on the lower shock link.
In numbers, this means the steering angle can be changed from 65-degrees to 64.5-degrees (64.5- to 64-degrees on the XR model), the seat tube angle from 76-degrees to 75.7-degrees and the bottom bracket height from -30mm to -25mm.
The adjustments also correlate to an increase in chainstay length, which is up from 435mm in the standard position to 445mm in the “low” position. Mondraker says the “low” setting increases grip, mid-corner and overall stability and poise at high speed and offers better weight distribution, performance and more active suspension behaviour on the descents.
Foxy Carbon 2023 models
The Foxy Carbon is available in three models: XR, RR and R.
The Foxy XR is the most aggressive of the three with 170mm of travel at the front and 150mm at the rear. It comes with the Öhlins suspension (RFX 36 fork and TTX Air shock absorber), the drivetrain is provided by SRAM with an X01 Eagle derailleur, DT Swiss EXC1501 Carbon Spline 29 wheels, SRAM G2 RSC brakes and ONOFF components including the Krypton Carbon 1.0 handlebar.
The Foxy RR has 160mm of travel at the front and 150mm at the rear, with an Öhlins fork and shock, an SRAM drivetrain with GX Eagle derailleur, DT Swiss EX1700 Spline 29 wheels, SRAM G2 R brakes and ONOFF components.
The Foxy R also comes fitted with Fox suspension with 160mm at the front and 150mm at the rear, SRAM’s NX Eagle drivetrain, DT Swiss E1900 Spline 29 wheels, SRAM G2 R brakes and ONOFF components including the Pija dropper seatpost.
All three models offer the option of adjustable geometry and are available in four different sizes: S, M, L and XL.
