Cannock Chase will be the venue for the mountain bike cross-country racing at the Commonwealth Games in 2022. Announced last week, Birmingham will host the games in four years time.
There will be 17 sports contested at the 2022 games which will be held both within the city and the surrounding areas. Whilst athletics and gymnastics will take place Birmingham itself, others such as triathlon and mountain biking will be won and lost further afield.
The cross-country races will take place at the ever popular Cannock Chase where riders will no doubt 'Follow the Dog' racing to the top step of the podium. With big plans for the venue, it will undoubtedly see an injection of funds to get it ready for a world-class performance in 2022. It'll be a revamp that will allow it to be enjoyed by many after the games are complete.
The track cycling will take place at Lee Valley Velo Park in London whilst the routes and locations of the road cycling events will be decided nearer to the time. We hope they choose something close to Cannock Chase to allow visitors to watch and get involved in both XC and road events.
The games will be held from the 27th July to the 7th August 2022. Here is a full list of the events to take place:
