5 cool things from Polaris, 5.10, Gaerne and Spank
We've had quite the haul of fresh kit to review this week. There are new shoes from 5.10 made using recycled ocean plastic, along with some cross country shoes from Gaerne, a couple of bike bags from Polaris, and Spank's Vibrocore drop handlebar. Here's a quick look at what we've got before it goes out for testing.

Addidas 5.10 Primeblue collection
Freerider shoes - £90 TrailX T - £35 Brand of The Brave short - £60
In a move that should please every mountain biker out there, Addidas 5.10 has introduced the Primeblue range, a collection of trail apparel along with the famed Freerider shoe that's made using recycled ocean plastic. Primeblue itself is a yarn that's made with 50% Parley Ocean Plastic which is upcycled plastic waste that is intercepted on shorelines and coastal areas, preventing it from reaching and polluting our oceans.
Addidas 5.10 has sent in both men's and women's collections for us to see if the sustainably made kit can stack up against its original predecessors.
Polaris Bike Rug
£60
The Polaris Bike Rug looks to be the ideal solution to help keep your bike protected when it's slung in the back of a van or strapped to a rack on the back of your car. The outer is made from a robust 600D polyester with 100% polyethylene padding to keep your bike protected against knocks and scrapes. It then uses a number of hook and loop straps to keep the cover in place.
Polaris Wheel Bag
£60
Polaris' wheel bag is designed for those who carry a spare wheelset up to races or for those who just want an easier way of carrying their wheels about off of the bike. Just like the Bike Rug, the Wheel Bag uses a rugged 600D outer to keep wheels protected but then there's a pair of zipped wheel sleeves, pouches for spares, and wheel skewers and it can accommodate all wheel sizes.
Gaerne Hurricane MTB SPD
£150
While definitely pricey, the Gaerne Hurricane MTB SPD shoe comes with heaps of tech to make it a comfortable but fast shoe. It gets a perforated microfibre upper along with a Tarsal Support System that's designed to put your foot in just the right position for the most natural pedal stroke. The shoe also comes with a 'Transpiration Insole' that's said to provide extra support. Then the heel cup is made using an anti-tendonitis shape with a non-slip grip to keep the shoe in place as you push and pull on the pedals.
Finally, the Hurricane is built with Gaerne's MTB 2Density Sole 7.0 sole that's made from a nylon and fibreglass composite to balance stiffness, performance and value. On the brand's stiffness index it sits at a 7, which blends a smidge of flex for walking and some damping, with stiffness for better power transfer.
Spank Industries Flare 25 Vibrocore Drop Bar + Flare Bar Tape, Gel Pad and Plug Kit
Bar - £100 Tape kit - £40
Spank Industries' Flare 25 brings the brand's vibration-reducing Vibrocore tech to drop bars. It's made using Zirconium-Doped 7-Series alloy construction with Vibrocore foam squirted inside to dampen trail vibrations while it's said to improve the durability of the bar.
With the bar, we've also got the Flare Bar Tape, Gel Pad, and Plug kit. The tape is made using long-tooth microfibre which is claimed to enhance grip in all conditions and offer a relaxed, lightweight feel on the bar.
