The Ranger Essentials Long Sleeve is a relatively simple jersey that performs really well. It is only available in a single colour and has no abrasion-resistant fabrics, but it is very comfortable and can be worn in a range of temperatures.

Fox Ranger Essentials Long Sleeve Jersey - Fit and Sizing
The Ranger Essentials Long Sleeve is available in sizes small to 2XL which covers chest sizes 89cm/35” up to 127cm/50” giving a reasonably wide range. For me, the small was a good fit (I am 168cm tall with a 34” chest). There was also enough space should you wish to wear protection or a base layer for colder weather. When worn on its own, there was a minimal amount of flapping and the sleeve length was perfect for a wider stance.
The Fox Ranger essentials jersey has a slightly dropped tail which is enough to prevent it from rising up while riding. It also looks good off the bike.
Fox Ranger Essentials Long Sleeve Jersey - Features
This jersey is part of Fox's Essentials range, so it may not come as a surprise to know the features are sparse. The jersey uses a single fabric throughout, which is a Recycled TruDri® polyester with minimal seams. Where there are seams, such as on the sleeve they are flat-locked to improve comfort, which is most notable when riding with a backpack.
The jersey has no pockets, and there are no abrasion-resistant fabrics in any area, which is something some more expensive jerseys often feature.
The fabric is quite thin and lightweight (144g) which helps improve breathability. I found it good in warm weather, but versatile enough that adding a base layer made it wearable on chilly days.
Fox Ranger Essentials Long Sleeve Jersey - Comparisons
It might be basic with no features beyond a good fabric and fit, but it does the basics well. It works in a range of temperatures and is very comfortable. At £50, it offers a competitive price compared to other brands. Nukeproof has the Blackline jersey that's £5 more that comes with a mesh back panel for airflow, and Leatt has several just above and just below £50, including the more breathable Ultraweld for £60.
Fox Ranger Essentials Long Sleeve Jersey - Overall Thoughts
There is a lot to like about the Fox Ranger Essentials jersey. It has a lightweight and breathable fabric, it can be worn in a range of temperatures and it looks good. If you like the colour and are not looking for something that will withstand crashing, brambles or trail jungles, the Fox Ranger Essentials is a great option.
