Brands without an ebike in the range have become fairly rare in the past few years. Now, the company known for its high-end carbon bikes has completed its most demanding project and has introduced the BOÖS; a disruptively designed enduro e-mountain bike.
The BOÖS has seen a full four years in development and it has now come to light with a host of integrated components. Built into the carbon frame's top tube is Bosche's KIOX 300 screen and then the seat post clamp is built into the material, for starters. The bike's chain guide, is built-in too.
UNNO says that frame stiffness has been boosted through the use of double row pivot bearings thanks to EnduroMAX technology. Not only do they promise more stiffness than single row cartridge bearings but it's claimed that they're a lot more durable too.
All of the plastic components found on the frame are made using recycled materials, making UNNO one of the first brands to build bikes with recycled plastic and rubber. This has been made possible by a collaboration with Oceanworks, a supplier than creates plastics by collecting waste from the ocean.
With the integrated Bosche screen, there's a 750Wh battery that powers a Gen 4 Performance CX motor from the same brand. In the Race build (the only build offered at the moment), kitted with EXO+ and Double Down tyres from Maxxis, the bike is claimed to weigh 22.6kg, making the BOÖS one of the lightest Bosche powered e-bikes on the market, says UNNO.
The BOÖS has gone through five prototypes and countless hours of testing and after all that, UNNO thought that the best wheel size to go for was the mullet setup. The brand has gone this route for its extra handling, strength, and stiffness towards the rear of the bike. It's said that the new e-bike is a fun, fast, and easy-to-handle bike with the latter being a top priority.
As touched on before, the Race build is already available for preorder and that comes with 170mm of suspension provided by a Fox 38 fork with a Float X2 shock handling the 160mm at the rear. There's also a Fox Transfer dropper post and all of that gets the famed Kashima coating. Shifting is supplied by SRAM and the GX AXS wireless drivetrain. Along with that, there's a pair of Crankbrothers Synthesis e-bike-specific wheels and Formula's Cura 4 brakes.
The BOÖS also takes advantage of UNNO's sister brand, Deux, to provide the carbon fibre handlebar. Making the bar an extra bit special is that it uses an integrated clamping system which is said to save weight and maintain a clean aesthetic.
There will be three sizes on offer with the S1 getting a 435mm reach, the S2 (available now) a 470mm reach and the S3 a 510mm measurement. All bikes then benefit from a 64° head angle, a 77° seat tube angle and a 450mm chainstay.
In its Race built, the UNNO BOÖS is priced at 9,995 euro (around £8313 directly converted).
