Sahmurai's Sword has to be the neatest tubeless repair system we've seen
Integrating your tools onto your bike is very much on trend at the moment and this Sahmurai Sword tubeless repair kit is one of the neatest setups out there. The design turns a reamer, plug tool and plugs into bar end caps, keeping them safe and easily to hand.
- 11 tools every home bike mechanic should own
- The best ways to find new mountain bike trails - find fresh riding near you
- 13 of the best ways to attach gear to your mountain or gravel bike
Designed by marathon racer Stefan 'Sahmurai' Sahm, to allow quick repairs to tubeless tyres when racing the likes of the Cape Epic - which he's won three times. This setup ensures that they'll be close to hand when issues happen on a race stage without the danger of having any pointy and potentially stabby metal tools flapping about in a bag or pocket.
Even for non-racers, switching out bar plugs for this repair kit means it'll always be with you when riding. The system consists of a reamer to roughen out the hole in the tyre ready to accept a plug, which is inserted with the fork. If you intend to be really quick about it, you can pre-thread a plug into the fork so you're ready to go straight away.
The design has just recently been updated with improved end plugs that now have a counter-0clockwise thread to keep them in the bars - and also exclude moisture and dirt that might make the plugs less sticky and therefore unable to seal.
Stefan reckons he can plug a tyre within just 20 seconds using this kit and at a claimed weight of 22g, it's lightweight too. The kit is now being distributed in the UK by Cyclorise, with a price TBC.
