The original Rascal put the Carbondale-based brand on the map and, after four years on the market, Revel has gone back to the drawing board with a complete redesign. While there are a lot of similarities between the two generations, the new bike ushers in a new frame, with enhancements to its carbon layup. Here's everything you need to know.

First off, Revel has updated the Rascal's geometry to improve climbing efficiency, descending prowess and its handling. So now, a large frame benefits from a 471mm reach, a 65.5-degree head tube angle and a 76-degree effective seat tube angle. The chainstay measures 436mm and the wheelbase is 1,222mm. The brand has also added a fifth bike size (XXL) to cater for a greater range of rider heights. That seat tube angle is specific to the frame size.
As before, the bike employs Revel's CBF suspension platform providing 130mm of squish. However, the brand has tweaked the kinematic to stabilise its pedalling platform without compromising the bike's known liveliness. Up front, there's a 140mm fork and the bike rolls on 29-inch hoops.
All of the pivot hardware has been refreshed, too, welcoming in larger bearings and axles to up frame stiffness, improve durability and allow for easier maintenance.
Where the serious changes are found is in its carbon frame. Having paid attention the to layup specifically, Revel claims that the new Rascel exhibits a 20 per cent increase in lateral stiffness while reducing the frame weight by an impressive 150g.
As for other neat frame features, the internal cable routing is co-moulded into the carbon, there's a Debris Guard for the rear triangle included in the box and the front triangle can fit two bottle cages. The new Rascal can also run the latest SRAM derailleur technology thanks to a UDH mech hanger.
Prices range from $3,600 (around £2,836) up to $10,500 (around £8,274).
