Muc-off unveils Big Bore coreless valves
Muc-Off is best known for its eponymous mountain bike cleaning, care, and lubrication products. However, the UK brand also produces a range of the best tubeless valves.

Riders don’t care much for valves as a component upgrade or investment during a new build. But when valves go wrong, your ride goes very wrong. Or ends prematurely. Bent, leaking, and clogged valves are all deeply annoying mechanical issues that are not easily solved with a multi-tool.
Tubeless mountain bike tyre sealant has created a complication for valve design, with the issue of clogging. There’s very little space inside a valve, and the tolerances are tiny because of its airtight design. That means even a small volume of sealant in the wrong place, creates the risk of clogging.
The coreless solution
Muc-Off’s solution is its Big Bore tubeless valves. Designed with a ‘straight through’ coreless structure, these valves promise to make inflation much easier - and clogging, much rarer.
Product specialists at Muc-Off chose a design with a lever-operated ball valve, promising to deliver excellent airflow, with minimal sealant clogging risk. When you are seating new tyres on rims in the workshop or garage, the ability to rush a much larger airflow volume with a single pump handle action is a big win.
The design might be revolutionary, but Muc-Off is marketing the Big Bore valves in all the configurations that wheel builders use and riders roll on.
There’s a Lite version, which is Presta valve compatible, with 230% more airflow than a conventional design. The Hybrid version is both Shrader and Presta compatible and boasts 254% greater airflow than a conventional set-up.
Ludicrous max airflow version
Muc-Off’s product team is also busy finalising the development of a Ludicrous version, which true to its name, enhances airflow by 264% over a traditional valve design.
All three Big Bore tubeless valve models are available in six colours to match your build and four stem lengths. Whether you run shallow aluminium rims or deeper section carbon wheels, the Big Bore tubeless valves have stem lengths in 30-, 35-, 45-, and 60mm, to suit your needs.
Investing in Big Bore valves could mean avoiding future tyre pressure adjustment frustration. The externally controlled, lever-actuated, ball valve airflow system means much better pressure adjustment or reinflation control when using a CO2 cartridge on a ride. With negligible sealant issues.
