Fizik has designed the Terra Artica GTX for all kinds of winter off-road riding. To do so, the brand has fully insulated the shoe while kitting it with GORE-TEX's Koala membrane. This tech makes the shoe completely waterproof, says Fizik. It's not all about waterproofing, however, as the membrane is said to offer better breathability by allowing sweat vapor to escape through billions of pores built into the shoe. So not only do the shoes keep water from seeping in, but they'll keep your feet sweat-free.
The interior of the shoe is lined with a brushed-fleece fabric that boosts insulation and comfort and acts as a homey layer against the harsh weather outside.
The exterior of the shoe is built using a high-density PU-laminated upper with the aim of creating a durable outside while keeping the shoe warm. The upper gets a Velcro strap to secure the shoe to the ankle and an L6 Boa dial makes for simple micro-adjustments, even with gloves.
Moving to the sole and Fizik claims it to be more versatile than ever as the X5 outsole has been redesigned to improve grip in winter conditions. The Terra Artica GTX gets studs and a rubber coating that covers the whole of the outsole. This shoe sits at a 5 on Fizik's stiffness index.
The new Fizik Terra Artica is set to cost £250 and it comes in two colours, Black or Grape. It's claimed to weigh 432g and comes in sizes from 36 up to 48 along with half sizes.
