Challenge's new Gravine gravel tyre is built 'to push boundaries'
The new Gravine utilises Challenge's wealth of knowledge in cyclo-cross tyre design and the result is an aggressively treaded gravel tyre that's designed to excel in the most technical terrain. Available in two carcasses, the brand says it's primed to push gravel boundaries further than before.

With roots deeply ingrained in cyclo-cross, Challenge took its knobbly tyre know-how and applied it to the gravel tyre dubbed the Gravine. It gets a tread pattern with increased lug height compared to its other gravel tyres in a bit to provide better grip in muddy sections and rocky terrain. Its open tread profile has been chosen to improve mud clearance.
That tread benefits from a consistent centre tread to combine good grip in mucky situations, with good rolling speed.
The Gravine comes built with Challenge's Handmade Tubeless Ready construction that's combined with cool rubber compounds that work to further reduce rolling resistance. Smartplus Compound is the brand's gravel-specific rubber that is made of a higher durometer rubber. The brand reckons that it wears slower while still offering good shock absorption, grip and control.
On top of that, both the Gravine and Gravine XP tyres come sorted with the Ganzo PPS puncture protection system which is made up of a tightly woven fabric between the tread and the casing. The Gravine benefits from a 260tpi polyester casing that's wrapped around the bead for even more protection.
As previously referenced, there's a Gravine XP model which gets even more protection thanks to Corazza Armor Gold. This boosts puncture protection further with a bead-to-bead layer of tightly woven fabric that adds reinforcement to the whole tyre.
This tyre is available in two widths, 40 and 45mm, and the Gravine will set you back £83 while the Gravine XP is £88.
