Cannondale releases Mavaro Neo SL e-bike with suspension and chunky tyres
Cannondale has introduced a new Mavaro Neo SL to its e-bike range, saying this bike will make "city biking simple, practical, and budget-friendly". That said, with its 50mm of front travel and wide tyres, it can take on some off-road and mixed surfaces as well.

The biggest update on the new Mavaro e-bike models is the motor. Previously, they have come with a mid-drive motor, but at the heart of the new Mavaro Neo SL models is the Bafang G020 motor, integrated into the rear hub. The motor provides up to 350W of peak power and 45Nm of torque, offering pedal assistance up to 25km/h. The integrated battery is tucked into the frame, maintaining a slim profile. Cannondale says the bike's range is up to 67 miles (108 kilometres) on a single charge and there is a range extender available.
There are three assist modes to choose from and those can be switched on the new handlebar display. There is also a walk-mode feature to make pushing a loaded bike easier.
The Mavaro Neo SL is available in two models – Mavaro Neo SL 1 and Mavaro Neo SL 2 – and three different frame styles. The Standard frame offers a classic top tube look, StepThru for easier mounting and increased stand-over clearance, or Low StepThru for maximum ease and convenience. Sizes depend on the frame style and range from Small to XL.
The Low Step models roll on smaller 27.5-inch wheels with 2.0in tyres, with the rubber being Schwalbe's Big Ben on all models. The frames on both new Mavaro bikes are made of aluminium and come with a host of mounting points for attaching items.
The new Mavaro Neo SL is mainly designed to be a stylish and practical companion for urban rides and features integrated lights and a Microshift drivetrain with either seven or eight gears depending on the model. Gears are controlled with a single thumb shifter, ensuring a seamless and intuitive riding experience.
At the front end, each Mavaro Neo has an SR Suntour NEX custom crown fork that offers 50mm of travel. This means that Cannondale has departed from using the proprietary HeadShok suspension on the new Mavaros.
The Mavaro Neo SL models come with a rear rack that can accommodate a wide variety of accessories and cargo, with a capacity of up to 18 kilograms.
The Mavaro Neo SL 1 will cost £2,400 and the Mavaro Neo SL 2 £2,200.
