Berd has released a new gravel wheelset, the Sparrow. The new hoops boast a remarkably low weight of just 1,065 grams for the complete set, making them a strong contestant for the lightest gravel wheelset title.

Even with the addition of tape and valves, the Sparrow is claimed to only tip the scales at 1,108 grams. The wheels are built on 25mm wide tubeless-ready, semi-hooked rims, which accommodate a wide range of tyres from 28c road tires to burly 50c gravel tyres. Because of the semi-hooked design, the max pressure is limited to 70psi.

The wheels feature Berd spokes - the ones that look kind of like thin shoelaces - that promise to deliver that low weight but also vibration-damping properties, which should result in a smoother and more comfortable ride.

The Sparrow Wheels rotate on the Berd Talon Gravel/Road hubs, which come with multiple freehub options, including Shimano Microspline, SRAM XDR, and the traditional Shimano 11SP road freehub body.

The Sparrow Wheels are available at an of $2,195 (£1,800) and come with a five-year limited warranty.
