2022 Red Bull Rampage: Brett Rheeder takes the win

Perhaps that most exciting, demanding, and gnarliest event of the year, the Red Bull Rampage has come and gone, and this iteration has been just as eventful as the last. Brett Rheeder who last won the event back in 2018 came in to the event as one of the favourites and managed to nab the overall Rampage victory ahead of Szymon Godziek (2nd) and Brandon Semenuk (3rd).

Video: MTB Fitness for new riders - The Strength Factory

While mountain bike-specific fitness is an important facet of everyone's riding, it's when you're completely fresh to the sport that you can really be feeling the lack of it. But The Strength Factory, an expert cycling coach, has a brand new video to help with exactly that.

ArmaUrto Arma Hex Knee Protectors review

ArmaUrto is a fairly new player in the best mountain bike knee pad game but the brand’s Arma Hex knee guards show promise thanks to clever 3D-scanned shaping and an integrated patella donut in a low-profile package. While the slim pads may appeal to those who are looking for big protection in a small design, they're pretty toasty and the thick sock can restrict ease of movement while pedaling.

Pole unveils the Vikkelä - a long travel but agile enduro bike

Pole has always been a brand that's pushed the envelope with its bikes, being the first to introduce some rather radical geometries in mountain bikes. Now, the Finnish brand has done it again with the Vikkelä, a new CNC-machined enduro bike that gets 190mm of travel, 29in wheels and adjustable lateral stiffness.

Specialized Trail Pants review

The Specialized Trail Pants are a simple-yet-effective pair of riding trousers that’ll please more than just fans of the brand’s bikes. They’re built with a range of well-thought-out features without being over complicated. They’re comfy and perform well in nasty weather but they’re rather tight around the ankle and calves, and perforations allow water through. That said, are they worthy of consideration among the best MTB pants?

Here's your October update.

7Mesh Men's Chilco Anorak review

7Mesh’s Chilco Anorak is part of the brand’s new WTV range that makes use of some interesting thermo-regulating tech. It’s comfortable, impressively versatile and it fits well, making it one of the best mountain bike jackets for off-road riding, but it does come at a price.
