Salsa Cycles, owned by Quality Bicycle Products, has issued an immediate recall for its Cowbell Carbon and Cowchipper Carbon Handlebars. The handlebars have been reportedly cracking when in use, which lead to the retraction of the products.

The handlebars affected were between January 2018 and August 2022 and have also been part of full bike builds on Salsa Cutthroat, Warroad, and Warbird models, which were distributed to retailers between August 2018 and June 2022.

In the company's Instagram update of the recall, Salsa Cycles said: "In some instances, the handlebars can crack where the brake/shift levers are installed and cause a crash, posing an injury to the rider." 

Salsa Cycles has advised owners of these bars to stop riding with them immediately. Any of the affected handlebars can be replaced free of charge at your local Salsa retailer. 

To identify if your handlebar is affected by the recall, you can find the model name on the non-drive side area of the stem clamp. Your local Salsa Retailer can also assist if you have any doubts. 

You can still exchange the handlebars for a free replacement, even if you no longer have proof of purchase. The most important thing is that you stop using the handlebar, even if it looks fine. For more information, contact recall@qbp.com.
