The long, slack Specialized Stumpjumper Evo now comes in carbon for a mildly breathtaking £6,800. As well as producing the carbon version with SWAT integration, you can also now buy a regular alloy version as a frame only, Spesh announce today.
We were one of the first in the UK to get a proper look at the alloy Specialized Stumpjumper Evo (you can read all about that here) and now it seems Specialized have deemed there is a market for a carbon version. Using exactly the same geometry as the alloy version, the carbon Stumpy Evo, isn't an S-Works but it certainly has a lofty price.
The carbon bike willl be made as a 27.5" and as a 29er with these bikes having the same travel as their alloy counterparts - 140mm rear and 150mm up front for the 29er and 150mm/150mm for the 27.5". As per the alloy version, there will be just one specification, which sees it fitted with a Fox 36 Performace Elite fork, a Fox DHX2 coil shock, GX Eagle and SRAM Code RSC brakes to name a few of the main components.
The big difference for the carbon bike is the addition of SWAT, Specialized's nifty door to the down tube providing the rider with a large amount of storage space concealed within the frame.
The aluminium option of the frame (27.5" and 29er) only gets a Fox DPX2 Performance shock - prices and availability to be confirmed, we will update you.
Specialized only had one photo of the new bike to show us, if you want more, check out this first look of the alloy version, seen above
