The YT Industries Decoy gets an EP801 motor and Hayes brakes for 2024
As part of its Core and Uncaged model range, YT Industries has brought a fresh specification to its Decoy 29 and MX Core 4 e-MTBs. Highlights include Shimano's latest EP801 motor, Hayes Dominion A4 brakes and top-end enduro-spec suspension.

Kicking off with the Core 4 29, it gets the same Ultra Modulus front triangle that you'll find on the MX build but from there, the build specifications split, says YT. Angled towards all-mountain riding, the Decoy Core 4 29 benefits from a lengthy 458mm chainstay to help keep the bike planted when climbing.
There's then 145mm of rear travel paired with a full carbon rear end on this build. That heft of rear suspension is damped thanks to a RockShox Vivid Ultimate shock that gets all of the adjustment you could ask for, including hydraulic bottom-out control and the suspension giant's Touch Down tech. The 150mm of suspension at the front of the bike is delivered by a RockShox ZEB Ultimate that comes sorted with the latest Charger 3 damper and Buttercup goodness.
On top of that and a first for YT Industries, the new Decoy comes with Hayes Dominion A4 brakes with a 220mm rotor at the front and a 200mm disc at the rear. Shifting is handled by SRAM's GX Transmission and there's a Shimano EP801 motor.
As expected from the German brand, this bike rolls on a pair of Crankbrothers Synthesis EMTB rims laced to Industry Nine 1 to 1 hubs. Those wheels are wrapped with Maxxis rubber with a Minion DHF and DHR II combination. There's a stealthy Renthal cockpit, ODI grips, YT's Postman V2 dropper and an SDG Bel Air saddle.
The mixed-wheel bike is designed more for heavy-hitting enduro riding and that's evident through the suspension choices that have been made. So the front 170mm of travel is provided by an Ohlins RXF38M.2 fork and the rear 165mm of squish is covered by an Ohlins TTXM.2 coil shock. But don't worry about the coil as each size gets its own spring rate with medium frames getting a 388lbs coil, large gets 411lbs and going up to XXL, that's sorted with a 475lbs spring. There are also two separate shock tunes for sizes S to L and XL to XXL.
This bike still gets those Hayes Dominion A4 brakes but there's a Shimano XT 12-speed Hyperglide+ drivetrain. It gets the same wheels and tyres, however those tyres come with Double Down casings. The finishing kit is the same as its 29-inch wheeled sibling, too.
The Decoy Core 4 29 is priced at £7,500 and the mixed wheel MX model costs £7,000.
