The Calibre Bossnut becomes an absolute bargain at £999
For the last decade, Calibre’s Bossnut has been the affordable full-suspension mountain bike for which you didn’t have to make excuses.
- Bigger wheels and more travel for the Calibre Bossnut
- Gravel bike vs mountain bike: what are the differences?
- Best cheap mountain bikes 2024 - budget bikes for all skillsets
Created for new mountain bikers, or trail riders seeking the most appropriate blend of
affordability and ability, the Calibre Bossnut is essentially unrivalled. The 2025 model year
version, effectively Bossnut 5.0, launched last month, benefitting from a significant redesign – like 29er wheels, a 64.5-degree head angle and more suspension, configuring to 140mm front and 135mm rear.
It's an aluminium dual-suspension trail bike with all the progressive geometry and
suspension travel to be most things to many people. And now, it’s available from GO
Outdoors at a ridiculous discount until the second of December.
If shopping yearend singletrack discounts are your thing, the promotional deal on Calibre’s new Bossnut is outrageous. Order from GO Outdoors as a member until 2 December, and you’ll pay only £999. That’s a £701 saving off the launch price of £1,700.
The value proposition is inarguable. There’s 135mm of frame travel courtesy of a Deluxe
Select shock, a 140mm Recon RL fork, size-specific dropper seat posts and proven Shimano MT401 brakes. To enhance climbing, cornering and braking traction, the Bossnut also rolls large volume tyres, with tread patterns proven in downhill and enduro racing: 2.5in width Maxxis Minion DHFs up front and 2.4in Forekasters at the rear.
Experienced riders know that geometry is everything, and the 2025 model year Bossnut has a collection of angles and numbers that will make a lot of sense to committed trail riders. As mentioned, it has a 64.5-degree head angle, which would not be out of place on a longer-travel enduro category bike. Frame reach numbers are generous, too, having grown by about 15mm per size, over the previous Bossnut.
Steering and cockpit geometry feature a 780mm handlebar and 45mm stem combination. Ideally configured for riders who want lots of stability and steering leverage, when controlling the Bossnut through rocky/rooty trail sections or leaning into switchback corners.
