The Ariel 50E range was first launched in 2021 and was Saracen's first dip into the e-MTB market. The brand took the best bits of the Ariel and added a Shimano E7000 motor and 150mm of suspension to the aluminium frame. Today, much of the bike is still the same, as Saracen says there “there haven’t been any changes for the sake of change, these bikes still perform at a very high level and match that performance with slick looks”.
But some changes have been made, in addition to the refreshed paint jobs. The three new models - Ariel 50E, Ariel 50E Pro and Ariel 50E Elite - all now come with a large 720Wh battery for a longer range than ever before (the earlier models had 504W). The 50E runs on Shimano’s E7000 motor, whereas the Pro and Elite get the powerful EP8 motor.
The componentry on the 2023 Ariel 50E models has stayed the same apart from the Pro model, which now gets Magura MT E-Stop brakes to add some heavy-duty stop to the EP8 motor.
As before, the 2023 Ariel 50E models come with 29" wheels but can be made to suit a mullet set-up with an included adjustable link - and sizes Small and Medium come with mullet set-up as standard.
The retail prices of the 2023 models are as follows: Saracen Ariel 50E - £5,000; Saracen Ariel 50E Pro - £6,000; Saracen Ariel 50E Elite - £7,000.
The Ariel models are available for pre-order now, with stock expected in February.
