Privateer has updated its website with in-depth details on the second generation of its highly acclaimed mountain bike platform and it's already been racking up awards, having been ridden to the top spot of the podium by athlete, Joe Connell.
While the brand doesn't go into serious detail about the new platform, it states that it comes with size-specific chainstays, steep seat angles, a flip-chip that adjusts the rear centre, and another flip-chip that allows the frame to play ball with 29-inch and mullet wheel sizes.
The brand then goes on to say that it aims to provide balanced handling, having chosen to build upon its size-specific chainstay philosophy, and justifying its newfound adjustability. Privateer also wanted to offer the rider to pick and choose between wheel sizes to up the bike's potential versatility.
Along with those features, the bike gets a fresh suspension kinematic that's been shaped to be sensitive at the start of the stroke with a linear progression to give the bike support in its mid-stroke. It then goes to its end stroke with plenty of bottom-out resistance.
As a Privateer bike, the company has pushed its established ethos and put a large amount of attention into durability. As such, the new platform benefits from oversized bearings with secondary seals on all bearings. Like before, there's a forged one-piece rocker link and all of the hardware has been designed to be fettled with using a single tool.
On top of all of that, there's external cable routing which will be a godsend for DIY enduro racers. Privateer also promises space for a large water bottle in all sizes, and there's a handy accessory mount for spares and tool storage.
To find out more, Privateer has three videos on its new landing page featuring its sponsored riders, Fergus Ryan and Katy Curd, and another from the brand's Lead Engineer, Dan Hicks who we spoke to earlier in the year about how brands build bikes.
With this new web page breaking solid news of Privateer's Gen 2 bikes, it's looking set that we can expect new bikes to be available to the public sooner than we first thought.
