Orbea updates Urrun e-hardtail with new frame details and mid-drive motor
An aluminium framed hardtail with a model name that translates to “far” in Basque, the Urrun is designed for mountain bikers who need an all-purpose solution – from trail riding to commuting and all-terrain bike touring.

Providing pedal assistance for the Urrun is Shimano’s latest Shimano EP600 RS Gen2 MC motor. Engineers have used the sensors and adjustability of the Shimano motor and control software to create two distinct modes for Urrun riders: RS and RS+.
In RS mode, the pedal assistance is more linear and natural. RS+ delivers more assistance at a lower cadence, helping riders climb confidently up steep technical trails or when riding into a buffeting headwind on open gravel or fire roads. Shimano’s e-Tube mobile app allows Urrun riders to configure their modes to fit their personal riding needs.
840Wh of combined range
The primary frame battery is a 630Wh unit, although Orbea is building its most affordable Urrun with a 540Wh battery. Riders who want to use plug-in range extenders can add a 210Wh battery, which is 1.1kg and fits in the bottle cage.
Designed around a 120mm fork, the Urrun features reasonable trail-centric geometry with a 66-degree head angle across all four frame sizes. Reach numbers are reasonably compact, with a size large measuring to 455mm of reach.
All Urruns spin cranks of 170mm in length, but there are differences in cockpit dimensions. The small frame clamps a 720mm handlebar with a 40mm stem, while the other three frame sizes (medium, large, extra-large) are built with 50mm stems and wide 800mm handlebars.
True to its purpose as a mountain bike that can confidently commute during the week, or be loaded-up for bike touring over weekends, the Urrun can mount a rear rack, fenders, and bags.
Three versions
Orbea’s updated Urrun range features three build options in two colours – matte magnetic bronze and gloss tanzanite. Product planners at Orbea have chosen to carry over the Urrun H40 as a legacy version, using the older generation RS motor and that slightly lower power 540Wh battery.
The H20 is priced at £3,700, powered by Shimano EP600 RS Gen2 MC mid-drive motor, and has a blended Shimano Cues drivetrain and MT201 brakes. It rolls Schwalbe Smart Sam Performance 29x2.35in tyres on alloy rims, and there’s a Marzocchi Bomber Z2 120mm fork up front, with e-bike optimized damping.
Orbea’s premium version of the new Urrun is the H10, priced at £4,600. It upgrades tyre specification to Schwalbe Wicked Will Evo TLE 29x2.40in in a tanwall finish. Drivetrain details upgrade to Shimano XT, while the H10’s brakes are M6100s.
