OneUp Components lifts the lid on V3 Dropper Post
The OneUp Components V2 dropper post is renowned for its durability and excellent quality at an accessible price. It also offers the widest range of travel options to date. Today, the brand has launched its V3 Dropper Post, claiming that it's the lightest on the market and better than its predecessor in every way.

OneUp has been working behind the scenes for three solid years to improve the V3 Dropper Post. The brand claims that it has the shortest stack and total length of any other dropper post that's currently on the market.
Impressively, OneUp says that the engineers have managed to shave 60 to 70 grams off its weight when compared to the previous-generation dropper thanks to a brand-new hydraulic cartridge, which is said to never need inflation.
The weight for a 180mm dropper with a 31.6mm seat post diameter is claimed to tip the scale at 460g, for example. However, the V3 Dropper Post is available in 27.2-, 30.9-, 31.6- and 34.9mm diameters, with a stack weight of 30mm (35mm for 34.9 posts) and a total length of 295mm up to 610mm. Compared to the V2 Dropper Post, the V3 is 10mm shorter in total length and its compressed stack height is 3mm shorter.
The brand goes on to compare the weight of the V3 Dropper Post to others on the marketing, citing that it's 238g lighter than RockShox's Reverb AS and 60g lighter than Fox's Transfer SL, which is a two-position dropper. Given that the V3 is infinitely adjustable, that's a bold claim. OneUp offers a titanium bolt upgrade kit which sheds another 10g off the total weight.
Answering calls for better seals, less play and smoother action, OneUp has paid attention to its cartridge, bushings, seals and pins. To start, the cartridge now requires 75 per cent less lever force when seated and significantly less breakaway force to initiate movement in its travel.
The V3 Dropper Post has then been fitted with all-new bushings, now featuring low-friction and self-lubricating IGUS bushings with increased overlap (as seen on RockShox's 2023 forks) to further reduce friction. The seals are new with a custom SKF wiper seal at the collar to keep grease in and dirt out, lengthening service intervals. There are also double the number of anti-rotation and two oversized polymer pins.
As for the service intervals, the V3 requires a clean and grease after 120 hours and a rebuild is recommended after 350 hours. It's said that the V3 post can be disassembled in 10 minutes with only a 14mm wrench, 5mm Allen, and 2mm Allen or a multi-tool. This can be done by the user and there's a two-year warranty included.
While this new dropper post is looking rather impressive, if you're a proud owner of a V2 Dropper Post, there will be a V2.1 collar upgrade which features that new SKF seal and the Ti bolt upgrade kit will work with the V2 dropper. All replacement parts for that post will also be available for another five years at least.
Wrapping up with the price, the OneUp Components V3 dropper will set you back £290 with the V3 Remote costing another £45. However, if you would like to buy both at once, the brand is offering the post and the remote for £316.
