Today Leatt has introduced the brand new DBX 4.0 Enduro helmet to the line-up. It's certified to downhill helmet standards and comes sorted with all the mod cons with the aim to make it a convenient and fully kitted enduro focussed lid.
First, let's talk about the safety features built into the DBX 4.0 Enduro. It has been tested and certified to AS/NZS 2063:2008, ASTM F1952–10, EN1078 and CPSC 1203 standards with that chin bar.
It also comes equipped with Leatt's 360°Turbine Technology which is the brand's rotational impact reduction system, much like MIPS. However, 360°Turbine uses a collection of specially placed discs that allow for some rotation in the helmet, rather than a full cradle.
Leatt says that this tech can reduce peak brain acceleration by 30% at impact speeds associated with concussion and reduce peak brain rotation by 40%. There's also in-moulded EPS and EPP impact foam for energy absorption.
The DBX 4.0 Enduro also features compatibility with the brand's range of neck braces.
Another neat safety trick is that the visor can break away in a crash which the brand says further reduces rotational impact forces.
Onto the less serious stuff, the DBX 4.0 Enduro comes with 18 vents, and just like the DBX 4.0 V20.1 full face helmet which scored respectfully well in our review, the mouthpiece can be popped out to encourage even more air flow. There's also a Fidlock enclosure.
As for the inner liner, it's moisture-wicking, anti-odor, and easily washable, as well as breathable says Leatt.
Then, of course, there's that removable chin bar. It's detached and reattached with a stainless steel latch.
The DBX 4.0 Enduro wouldn't be full enduro without space under the visor to dock your goggles but what makes this space even more useful is that it's built to accommodate sunglasses too.
A plus for those who aren't into the whole removable chin bar thing, there's also the DBX 4.0AM which gets all of the tech and the look of the Enduro model just without the chin bar.
The new Leatt DBX 4.0 Enduro is available in four colours, Black, Chilli, Sand, and Cactus and there are three sizes. That one will set you back 299 EUR (approx £265).
As for the DBX 4.0AM, that one is priced at 189 EUR (approx £167)
