Hope unveils the F22 flat pedal
It's been a full 10 years since Hope released the F20, which is considered to be one of the best MTB flat pedals ever made. The F22 flat pedal pictured here represents a culmination of the Barnoldswick-based brand's experience offering better durability and a larger platform in the pursuit of grip.
Hope's new F22 takes the famed F10's internals but benefits from a fresh platform shape. It now features a dual concave and an asymmetric, tapered shape that extends further than the previous pedal to offer better support.
Even the pedal's pins have been redesigned with a hexagonal shape which Hope reckons offers better engagement with shoes. As for the number of pins, each pedal gets 22. Those pins are reverse loading too, so there's less chance of them getting stuck. It's not just the platform that gets concave either, as the pins get shorter towards the centre of the pedal. Each pin is also height adjustable.
As for its internals, as mentioned before, they're the same as the F10s with three cartridge bearings and an IGUS bush. The F22 then gets internal and external seals to prevent any dirt ingress. Though, the axle has been redesigned to boost the pedal's strength.
The pedal is also fully serviceable and re-buildable.
To pick up a pair of Hope's new F22 pedals, you'll have to part with £145.
