Canyon partners with F1 star Valtteri Bottas
Canyon has announced a partnership with the Finnish Formula One driver Valtteri Bottas, who is a known cycling enthusiast and has even set up a new international gravel race for 2023.

- Best gravel bikes under £1,500 in 2022 - drop-bar machines that won't break the bank
- Gravel bike geometry: everything you need to know
Bottas has been seen riding Canyon bikes for a while now - whether on dirt tracks of his homeland or on the race circuits. Cycling has always been an important part of the racer’s training, offering him an escape and an opportunity to get some exercise.
Since the F1 star met his partner, Canyon//SRAM rider Tiffany Cromwell, Bottas has got ever more involved in the cycling world.
“I’ve now got into a bit of racing as well. Mainly for just challenging myself pushing myself to the limit, and especially in gravel racing. It’s good for me because it almost feels like it’s a bit more relaxed. And also there’s maybe a bit of beer involved!” Bottas told Canyon.
Proving he can be speedy on two wheels as well as on four, Bottas already made a debut as Canyon ambassador at the Belgian Waffle race, where he won the 40-mile race this weekend.
Earlier this year Bottas announced a new international gravel race hosted in his hometown Lahti. The two-day FNLD GRVL race will take place in June 2023 and have a prize purse of £17,000. Bottas is organising the event together with the US event organised SBT GRVL and Bottas’ partner, Canyon//SRAM Racing’s Tiffany Cromwell.
“I have ridden Canyon bikes for several years already, becoming increasingly impressed at their commitment to innovation and performance. Having had the chance to meet some of the people behind the brand recently, it’s only fuelled my passion. Now I’m looking forward to telling my cycling journey as an official Canyon ambassador, showcasing what I love about riding on two wheels,” Bottas said.
