Tech news of the week from Pirelli and more
This week has been quieter on the tech front - perhaps because the road-cycling world has taken over everything with their Tour de France spectacle. We’ve got some good stories for you, though, including new gravel tyres from Pirelli and advice on mountain bike trails.

Pirelli adds more puncture protection to the Cinturato RC-X tyre
Pirelli has launched a new Cinturato RC-X tyre with added puncture protection. The tyre is designed for gravel racing, and the "X" in the name stands for "extreme."
The RC-X builds upon the success of Pirelli's gravel race-focused Gravel RC tyre, which was launched last year. But unlike the RC model, the Cinturato RC-X has a casing structure called TechWALL X. This structure comprises a 60tpi nylon casing with an extended overlap on the sidewall, enhancing the tyre's resistance to cuts.
There are two widths available now – 35mm and 40mm - and one more to come later on.
Types of mountain bike trail - different trail types and what they mean
Once you get your mountain bike, finding the best trails to ride it on is the inevitable next task. It’s all fine to pootle around the local farm tracks or park but to progress your skills and get a bit more enjoyment out of your mountain biking, finding purpose-built trails is essential.
In this feature, Lance covers all the different types there are and also explains what you should be looking out for when you choose where to ride. It’s important to not head to the black trails unless you are ready for them!
