Fox ditches the cables with its first wireless dropper, the Transfer Neo
With brands such as RockShox, Magura, Brand-X and KS already on the wireless hype train, Fox has found itself a little late to the post. The brand has finally unveiled its entry into the wireless dropper post market with the Transfer Neo. Fox's new wireless dropper promises lightning-fast actuation speeds, a lower stack, longer travel and a more natural lever feel.

Fox claims that, with its regular Transfer dropper post, it's been innovating and pushing design with its latest model getting more travel, better durability and a larger feature list. The next goal was to create a wireless dropper post – not simply to match up to the brand's competitors but to build a better-performing product.
One headline within Fox's press release is that it's the fastest dropper post on the market. It states that riders are looking for remote levers that require as little force to actuate as possible for an instantaneous feel. As such, Fox needed to design a wireless protocol that was stripped of all the fat, resulting in almost no latency between pressing the remote's button and the dropper post moving.
A stand-out feature of the Transfer Neo is its external design that reduces the post's stack height and also increases tyre clearance. Rather than being placed under the saddle, as with most other wireless droppers, the battery is located at the seatpost collar. With that, Fox promises that the Transfer Neo can be run at full insertion without any concern of the rear tyre impacting the battery.
Not only does Fox's battery placement retain the 6mm of tyre clearance recommended by the ISO (International Standards Organisation) but it reduces the stack height to 47mm compared to other droppers. It's also allowed a 200mm drop position in all diameters.
Fox has designed the Transfer Neo's lever to be familiar. It gets a rubber-coated thumb pad and its lever sits at the same distance from the bar as a regular Transfer remote. However, the Transfer Neo remote uses a shorter throw – so it can be rotated further under the bar for better clearance between a rider's thumb knuckle. There's also haptic feedback from the lever that ensures you know you've actuated the dropper.
It's expected that the remote battery will last a year and it is compatible with standard 22.2mm, Matchmaker and I-Spec EV clamp standards.
As with most wireless components, there's an app for the Transfer Neo to deliver fast adjustments and keep track of the dropper maintenance intervals. Now through the Fox Bike app, riders can set the dropper to Bike Park Mode which disables the dropper lever and stops the dropper from extending mid-descent. There's also a Transport Mode designed to conserve battery power while travelling.
As for the Transfer Neo's battery, it's specific to the dropper post and built 'with compatibility for future Neo products'. It promises 30 to 40 hours of battery life with a 1.25- to 1.5-hour charge time. There's also a shake-to-wake function that turns the system on when the bike is moved.
There's a manual actuation option that covers any instance where the remote lever isn't useable. Fox states that a service is required after 8,000 actuations. Although, the dust wiper can be removed for easy regreasing.
Fox is providing the Transfer Neo with 125, 150, 175 and 200mm of drop and with 30.9, 31.6 and 34.9mm diameters. There's also a 100mm drop available but only in 30.9 and 31.6mm diameters. There are two models available, Factory and Performance Elite, however the latter is only on OEM bikes.
The price for Fox's Transfer Neo Factory is £1,129 and a spare dropper post battery will set you back £99.95.
