Video: Highlights of the Leadville Trail 100 MTB race in Colorado
In its 30th anniversary, the 2024 Life Time Leadville Trail 100 MTB presented by Kenetik race brought together defending champions Keegan Swenson and Sofia Gomez Villafañe to tackle the high-altitude terrain in Leadville, Colorado. With climbing reaching nearly 12,500 feet, the 105-mile race starts in Cloud City in Colorado Springs and is an out-and-back set-up travelling through the midst of the Colorado Rockies.

Production filming company Cold Collaborative brings us closer to the action of the second-oldest 100-mile endurance marathon mountain bike race in the USA. This is a true test of stamina and, even more so, mental motivation. With an average of half the field finishing the ‘Race Across the Sky’, as it’s widely known, this is no straightforward, painless journey on two wheels; this is for the superhuman handful of gritty and determined cyclists.
“Anything more is not necessary, anything less is not enough” are the harrowing words belted out at the beginning. The edit spills out with American high-energy heroism and gives you behind-the-scenes footage of bike set-up, commentary from the helicopter, rider interviews, and rider stories. An exciting bike format with dropped bars on a mountain bike features heavily in this film.
Is it a winning mash-up of blending MTB with gravel drop bars? Let us know in the comments.
