The DMR Deathgrip2 gets new rubber and features
There are only a few products on the market that reach legendary status - the Fox 36, RockShox Pike and Shimano XT, to name a few. DMR's Deathgrip is one of those products that has become a household name and the first upgrade many will make to their new mountain bikes. Today, in celebration of the upcoming release of Brendan Fairclough's Deathgrip2 film, DMR has unveiled its updated Deathgrip2 grips.

And the updates are much more than skin deep as from the outside, DMR has chosen to keep the tried and tested and perhaps even pioneering grip pattern. So, inboard is a soft mushroom section combined with a diamond knurl pattern elsewhere. There's also the classic waffle pattern found underneath the grip. Nothing has changed here, as this is what made the grip famous.
However, the Deathgrip2 benefits from a number of changes with the most obvious being the exposed core end. DMR has added this as it reckons that it boosts durability, This has also allowed the brand to build in a new injection-molded DMR end cap which makes the grip look rather fancy.
Much like we've seen on grips from other brands, the Deathgrip2 features a slimmer lock ring and it's said to be better integrated with the grip's outer. The flanges are slimmer, too, and feature a new relief design.
The biggest changes are in the rubber compounds. Now, the Deathgrip2 is available in a choice of three compounds: a firm 25A available in the gum colour only, a middling 20A, and an ultra-soft 15A. The latter is found only on the Race grip and provides extra comfort and control without sacrificing durability or weight.
There's tonnes of choice, too. There are plenty of colours to pick from, but as before, there are flanged and flangeless models and two thicknesses.
Elsewhere, there are the usual features such as the tapered core, and DMR says they weigh 100g per pair.
A pair of the fresh DMR Deathgrip2 grips will set you back £24 with the Race model priced at £27.
