Sven Cycles introduce the Rohloff Explorer
Sven Cycles are no strangers to the Rohloff hub gears or to gravel bikes for that matter. The new Explorer combines the Rohloff Speedhub with tweaked geometry from their gravel grinder, the Pathfinder to create a versatile adventure bike.
Creating hand built steel beauties in their Dorset workshop since 2012, the guys at Sven Cycles are no strangers to custom builds, semi-custom build and tweaking designs to make them absolutely perfect. The Rohloff Explorer is a case of such an evolution of the Pathfinder, their original adventure bike.
The Pathfinder was built to be a 'go everywhere' machine, made to be laden with luggage, taking the rider where ever their heart desires in the pursuit of adventure. The Rohloff Explorer is no different but this time Sven Cycles have altered the geometry a little to make the bike more stable and work better with the flat bars fitted as opposed to the drops seen on the Pathfinder. The top tube and rear chain stays have been made longer and you can also fit wider tyres in the Rohloff Explorer, up to a maximum of 2.4" on 650B wheels rather than the 2.2" on the Pathfinder.
As with the Pathfinder the Reynolds 921 is left unpainted and due to the very high chrome content being very resistant to corrosion. Elsewhere the frame and fork features a full complement of water bottle bosses and rack fittings as standard.
