Ski-an-duro: Ski and Mountain Bike Enduro in Scotland
No Fuss Events are the team behind the extremely successful Scottish Enduro Series and the popular yet gruelling Tour de Ben Nevis in Scotland. This year they are teaming up with the Nevis Range and launching a brand new event, the Ski-an-duro (or Sgian-duch-ro) in a mix up of ski cross and mountain bike enduro!
The race is scheduled to take place on the 17th March 2018, high up on the expanse of Aonach Mor in the Nevis Range, Scotland The all new race will be open to 150 individuals or teams. There will be two separate stages with times combined giving you a grid position for the final mass start stage that will combine both snow and bikes.
Peter MacFarlane, Managing Director of Nevis Range, said: “It’s great to continue our successful collaboration with No Fuss with the launch of another new and exciting event here at Nevis Range.”
Nutty enough to give this race format a go? Well, here's all the 'need to know' information:
Stage One: A mountain bike enduro stage utilising one of the many legendary stages at Nevis range.
Stage Two: The snow stage (skiers and snowboarders) course will utilise the mountainous terrain starting as near to the snow line as can be managed. No Fuss aren't messing about saying, 'the course will be as demanding as conditions will allow.'
Stage Three: The mass start race from as high on the mountain as conditions will allow on ski's or a board. Participants will race to the designated transition area before changing to mountain bike and descending the mountain using parts of the world famous mountain bike downhill course and other classic enduro routes that the mountain has to offer. Participants will start with a Le Mans style run to their ski or boards then descend a route incorporating the ski areas many features to the designated transition area to pick up their bikes. From the transition participants will have to ride an enduro style stage incorporating sections of the world famous mountain bike World Cup downhill course all the way to the base station.
Location: Ski-an-duro takes place at Nevis Range, Fort William, Scotland
Date: 10 am on Saturday 17th March 2018.
Timing: The race will be timed using Sportident timing system, riders/skiers and boarders need to make themselves aware of how the system works and how to use efficiently.
Camping: (if you are hard / brave enough) will be available at Nevis Range car park from Friday.
