Shand Cycles update the Stoater, their versatile touring and gravel bike
Ready for order now with a delivery time of only 4 weeks, UK adventure bike company Shand Cycles have updated their popular Stoater touring model to be more affordable and versatile.
Priced at under £1,995, the new Stoater still has at its heart a lightweight steel tubeset from Italian tubing manufacturer Columbus with steel fork, updated to be compatible with flat mount disc brakes, bolt-thru axles and clearance for 700c x 2" tyres. This next-generation Stoater now has 12mm thru-axle dropouts front and rear as standard as well as utilising the new road specific FlatMount brake specification.
It looks set to be a versatile gravel and touring bike that will be happy to commute, explore singletrack, race cross and bike pack too. There are options for mudguards, racks as well as loads of potential upgrades to choose from when ordering, with each bike fabricated and built to order in Scotland.
The price of £1,995 will get you a full build with a Praxis Alba 48/32 chainset, Shimano 105 groupset (hydraulic disc brakes), Hunt 4 Season Dura Disc 700c wheels in either a grey or red gloss paint. The bikes all get a threaded bottom bracket, three sets of bottle mounts, 27.2mm seat post, a Cro-mo straight blade form with rack mounts and mudguard eyes.
Steven Shand said:
“We’ve worked hard to design and produce a UK made bike for sale at under £2k and think the Stoater 2018 offers a great value for money tourer. To help reduce costs we’ve changed production to small batch runs for the Stoater and made changes to the spec to create a great package – all made with the same attention to detail as our other bikes.”
