Liv add Lurra E+ to its hardtail range plus new collection from Shred Like a Girl
New female-specific tech tailored for riders chasing dirt and gravel is being launched on an upward trajectory compared to a decade ago. Some new products go sneakily under the radar and are often mingled into an overpowering men’s collection, and some are labelled as ‘unisex’ or a rising progressive term ‘gender neutral’ with a focus on male/female crossover to promote inclusivity. All of this aside, some women will look specifically for an equivalent female-focused version of a new sparkly product – whether that's a new release or update. It’s great news that more brands are including much more choice for women now than ever before, and it’s not just the colour that will get your attention; the tech specifics go much deeper than that.

Let’s take a moment to celebrate the empowerment of female riders with the increasing range of tech tailored for us. The recent wave of exciting new products has significantly impacted the industry, marking a new era of inclusivity and innovation. This month, we look at Shimano's new footwear additions: a brand new e-mtb from Liv, clothing brand Vaela where cycling tech meets smart style, a summer range added to Shred Like a Girl's clothing collection and an updated SDG saddle with a cornish twist.
Shimano launches new off-road adventure shoe
A release of footwear by Shimano sees some women-specific additions. The ET and EX range offers adventure-focused footwear with attention to detail for those who seek a shoe for all off-road eventualities. Features look at adding comfort for both on-the-bike and off-the-bike occasions. The EX500W (meaning women's specific) are aimed at multi-day bikepacking trips, while e-bike riders will enjoy the ET range for touring and general-purpose days in the saddle.
Shimano has also introduced two new colours to the XC300 and XC100 women's shoes. Colours now include a mahogany option, bronze as well as the standard black.
Liv introduced the Lurra E+ to its hardtail e-MTB range
Women's brand Liv has launched an all-new e-MTB to complement its hardtail range. It offers women-specific geometry and a reach of 415mm, 36mm shorter than a size large Fathom E+. The Lurra E+ features a more compact package with a 130mm fork, the smooth operating SyncDrive Sport 2 mid-drive motor and RideControl tech. The Lurra E+ features a dropper post just as the non-electric Lurra version and a 625Wh battery keeps you on those trails longer. There's also an option of adding 250Wh EnergyPak Plus along with the ride.

Vaela: Smart cycling clothing specifically for women
It's difficult and almost rare to find women's cycling clothing that excels in both performance and a smart design approach. This is where the clothing brand Vaela comes in. At first glance, the clothing can pass as everyday casual attire with a denim appearance. They provide clothing that can be used on more occasions than only on the bike. The crew can also be found at pop-up events such as festivals, world championships and markets.
The clothing is sustainable and made using recycled materials and you can find a selection of jeans, jackets, bags, helmets and accessories. There are even subtle cycling functions, such as reflective detailing on one leg for cycling in low light.
The 002 Jeans are £160 with a choice of reflectivity on the right or left leg for preference and are stretchy, high-waisted and no uncomfortable seams in the way.

Allure V2 women's saddle by SDG
Already a firm favourite, the women's specific Allure V2 saddle by SDG has had some upgrades to balance comfort and style. The cut-out in the middle is now even more defined, as is the per-canal to alleviate unwanted pressure. The EVA foam that gives it that squish feel is lightweight and plush. The soft microfibre top layer with breathability adds to the softness, and to modernise its appearance, the platform has been flattened to allow ease of movement and helps with climbing.
This jazzy colourway, 'The Cornish Surf,' features a durable upper for better off-road cycling protection and a seamless back panel. The unique pattern was created by Lisa Robins, a custom surfboard designer in Cornwall.
