These medium-to-thin grips combine ODI's lock-on base with a grip from rival company SDG. The result offers reliable traction for your hands, though that SDG rubber wears pretty quickly and they're unnecessarily fiddly to fit.

The grip pattern is a mix of SDG logos, either normal or reversed out. It's slightly thicker under the palms, while the thinner side uses just the central part for finger grip. They're comfy enough to use without gloves, though the skinny style is more about ride feel than ultimate cushioning, so it's not one for cruisers and tourers.
The combination of decent rubber and that open pattern means they're very grippy, yet while they aren't super soft, they seem to wear quite quickly thanks to the thin sections of the SDG logos.
The clamps work very well, staying totally secure throughout the test. The grip is bonded to a plastic tube, while the clamps clip into either end and the caps pop into the holes to finish off the clean looks. These scuffed quick enough, but do help keep the clamps intact.
With four parts to the grip, which also needed the bolts screwing in, I felt they were a little overly fussy - the benefit of a lock-on is that they're simple to get on, and it felt odd having all these parts to clip and snap together.
They're colour-matched to SDG Duster saddles, should you have one of those, and come in Black, Red, Aqua and Lime Green. Or they did – at the time of writing this blue option had disappeared from the official site's drop-down menu.
At over £25 they're at the high end of the grip market, and in truth there are other grips that feel better, come in more colours and last longer. Nevertheless, the ODI SDG Lock-On grips are very secure, look good and do the job well.
