Off-Road Arrivals
Another week has come around quickly in the off-road.cc office. This week, we've been mainly drooling over gravel bikes and trying to find something nice and new from our editor Jon's unruly desk to give away as our Facebook page reaches all new heights. Give us a like if you haven't already - there will be more giveaway's coming up soon so well worth the finger clicking action!
Topeak Frontloader
The Topeak Frontloader is one for the bike packing fans out there. Topeak say you can "pack freedom in your handlebar bag", sounds pretty outlandish and we think you are much more likely to pack a sleeping bag in here than freedom. It's light, waterproof (if you use the waterproof bag) and at first look, it appears quick and easy to release your kit leaving the mainstay of the bag on the handlebars. It costs £64.99 and you can check out more information here.
DMR Pedal
This week two sets of DMR pedals arrived, we have a pair of Vault flat pedals and also a set of VTwin clipless pedals. We know the Vaults are a favourite with many riders, despite the £115 it will cost you to have them on your cranks. We are looking forward to getting these large platform pedals on a test bike and getting, well, on the pedals!
Next up is the VTwin pedal from DMR, a pedal that uses the SPD platform but makes a difference by allowing the rider to adjust the grip, feel and float options by the use of pins, nylon 'bumpers' and metal shims. They have a claimed weight of 546g and will cost you £129.99 including all the kit for the adjustments and a pair of cleats.
KS LEV Carbon Integra
Is this 175mm dropper from KS the lightest post you can buy right now? We published a 'First Look' feature yesterday, where we found this post weighed in very much in the lightweight category. We'll certainly be thinking about whether this weight saving is worth the price hike.
All City Space Horse Disc
Like we said, it's been a week (or two) of gravel grinding fun here in the office. We love the retro design and fat tyres on this steel pony from All City. You can see the First Look for the bike here. For the frame only, this steel stallion will come in at £575 but we've opted for the ready-to-gallop complete bike with a Shimano 105 drivetrain for £1,600. Yeehaa!
Specialized Ambush Helmet
Last but by no means least is the Women's Specialized Ambush lid. If we were buying a helmet on looks alone this one would be top of the list! Spesh say it's super cool (not just in the looks department), lightweight and with an Aramid-Reinforced Skeleton providing internal support for the EPS foam - all things we like to hear about a helmet. It's not cheap at £115, considering the lack of MIPS, we'll see if performance makes up for lack of safety tech.
